Acquittal

Noun

When a judge proclaims the convicted person’s innocence.

Example: The judge proclaims that the prisoner is acquitted.

Barrister

Noun

Someone who comes to the bar to defend a convicted person. He defends people in court.

Example: The prisoner asks for his right to have a barrister.

Bribe

Noun

An illegal sum of money gave to someone in exchange for assistance.

Example: The gangster gave a bribe to the police officer to be protected.

Brief

Noun

Very similar to a case.

Example: The detective is working on this brief.

Case

Noun

An investigation, something on which detectives or police work.

Example: This case can’t be resolved.

Loophole

Noun

Lack of legislative standards applicable to a given situation.

Example: Justice is facing a loophole.

Petty theft

Noun

A little theft committed without violence.

Example: He committed a Petty theft.

Solicitor

Noun

Similar to barrister but a solicitor does legal work outside Court. He is in charge of wills.

Example: He has hired a solicitor for his divorce.

Verb

To exonerate someone or to conceal the fraudulent origin of an amount of money.

Example: The prisoner has been laundered. A laundering money traffics.
